About
Me

I was bitten by the shutterbug even during my college days when I was
part of the Malnad Amateur Photographers Society (MAPS) at the Malnad
College of Engineering, Hassan. What began as a random interest in
photography gradually gained direction and I became more and more
focused on wildlife photography. It also helped that I had by then
shifted base to Bangalore and it made it easier for me to frequent the
forests around Bangalore-Mysore. Owing to the limitation in my
equipment, my earlier collection of photographs comprised mostly
mammals. As I was deeply intrigued by the bird life in and around
Bangalore, I decided to make the switch to the Canon digital SLR. This
enabled me to freeze images of numerous birds around Bangalore. My
association with likeminded people through yahoo groups such as "India-nature-pixs" only added to my enthusiasm.
I learnt my basics of
exposure using an antique German camera. Subsequently I started wildlife
photography with my Yashica SLR manual camera which had a 28-200 zoom. Then
graduated to Canon EOS 50Eand currently shoots with my Canon 10D along with the
Canon 500mm f4/L IS lens. I conducted my first ever solo exhibition at the
"Time and Space" Art gallery titled "Fauna Around Bangalore" during July 2004,
displaying a stunning array of birds in their natural habitat. my pictures are
noted for their tight composition and pleasant mood they convey. Part
of the proceeds of my exhibition were donated to "Namma Sangha" of Bandipur, an
NGO involved in the conservation of wildlife. I believe that wildlife
photography is much more than just equipment and materials. It is essentially a
way of looking at nature and its denizens with a kind of sensitivity and
response, which is part of one's innate personality. I am
also involved in other wildlife protection and related projects.
I also take time to hold regular photography classes .The nominal fees that I charge is contributed towards various charitable
causes including conservation of wildlife.
